JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, an alluring resort, is set on 316 acres in the Sonoran Desert where Phoenix meets Scottsdale.
The resort provides luxury, unparalleled service, endless recreation and exquisite dining. Two 18-hole championship golf courses, Marriott's original Revive Spa, ten dining options and four acres of turquoise swimming pools and shimmering waterways set the mood for a relaxing getaway. Panoramic views of crimson-hued mountains, fiery Arizona sunsets and the picturesque, cactus-studded Sonoran Desert only add to the resort's serene setting.
The elements of natureófire, water, earth and skyóhave been woven into the resort's architectural design to let every guest experience the pleasures of the distinctive surroundings.
JW Marriott Wildfire Golf Club is an upscale daily fee facility. It touts two picturesque 18-hole courses, situated in the rugged Sonoran Desert, each with its own distinct personality.
The Palmer Signature Course plays up to 7,145 yards, providing a very scenic desert experience. The expansive fairways allow the player to remain in play even on an errant shot. The flashed bunkering on Palmer is superb, and the putting greens carry plenty of undulation, like many Arnold Palmer designs. The expansive square footage of the greens (average size is 7,000 square feet) allow the undulations to create subtle challenges for the short game without feeling contrived or "tricked up".
The Faldo Championship Course, which plays up to 6,846 yards, sits on a 174-acre site and offers a slight variation from the typical desert-theme courses. It features generous fairways, large Bentgrass greens and tee boxes. The surrounding mountains and century-old saguaro cacti as well as 106 sand bunkers, reminiscent of the Australian sand belt courses, provide a spectacular setting for the golf course and golfing guests.
